We are community garden in Chennai - a shared space collectively cultivated by volunteers who come together for the purpose of learning and enjoying gardening. Community gardens provide multiple environmental, social, and physical benefits to citizens and cities.
We are built solely on community involvement and are free and open to all residents from all walks of life in Chennai. We primarily utilise seeds, saplings, compost and material available in nature or shared by community members. However, we are hoping to raise funds to improve our infrastructure post the incredibly heavy and erratic Chennai rains this year.
We are seeking funds to:
1. Create raised vegetable beds
2. A durable pathway
3. Improve the drainage of our soil
4. Create a small shelter for our saplings

The funds are managed by the volunteers of the Kasturba Nagar Community Garden and will be utilised in the next two months. We would be grateful for your donation and welcome you to join us at the garden to enjoy a green and productive community space at your leisure!
While community gardens are often supported by local governments abroad, the system in India does not yet allow for this. Your contribution will allow us to develop a model that can be emulated in all localities in any major Indian city!
