He was working as Front-end engineer in a small start-up in Chennai. By nature he is a jovial and talkative person who likes to talk a lot and make people happy around him.
From December 2019 he had a discomfort in his tongue and throat which he wouldn't have thought that it would turn his life upside down.
Upon diagnosis doctors from Adyar cancer institute told him that it was cancer. He had two choices (i) He has to either undergo an operation or (ii) Opt for chemotherapy
He had prefered to undergo an operation where part of his tongue had to be cut to avoid the spread of cancer cells. Inspite of knowing that the operation might have a serious impact in his speaking ability he went ahead boldly for it.
The surgery went well amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The doctors told that slowly he would be able to recover back from the wound in his tongue.
Now even after 6 months instead of pain dropping down it got aggravated. Upon further diagnosis it was a big shock that the tumor was still growing.
Even the doctors weren't sure why it's happening. Even to take a tissue biopsy he had to undergo a surgery. Multiple operations conducted but it couldn't be treated completely.
Now doctors have advised to opt for chemotherapy which is estimated to cost around 7-10 lacs.
Karthik had spent all his savings for the previous surgeries and medications. His family was entirely relying on his earning hence they were unable to arrange such large amount. Since he was working in a early stage start-up insurance cover was not provided.
Now he definitely needs our support to overcome this difficult phase of his life. Any kind of small help would make a huge difference in his life. So kindly come forward to support and share it with your network to gain more support.
