Story

As our country is currently being overwhelmed with the novel corona virus pandemic, we need a safe and strong health care system to support our near and dears. No country is completely equipped to handle the situation without the help of its citizens. Even developed countries like USA, UK, Italy are facing a lot of cases and shortage in protective equipment too. Healthcare workers like doctors, nurses, laboratory workers dealing with specimens and the sanitation workers working in COVID wards and ICUs need to be protected while handling such patients, doing procedures which will expose them to the blood, cough of such patients.

Studies in Italy have shown bad outcomes in hospitals where healthcare personnel are infected, as there's chance of more number of patients and the family members too getting infected through them, infected health care personnel going into quarantine, decrease in workforce, leading to decrease in doctor-patient ratio. Hence the Viral load is also high in healthcare personnel working for more than 6-8 hours leading to mortality even in young people and also the patients treated by them.  PPEs worn according to work place help greatly in fighting the virus and protecting the health personnel and hence the patients too.

100% of the funds will be spent for the cause.

Protective gears (like facemasks, eye glasses, gowns and gloves) are limited in number and are expensive. A single wear disposable kit costs about 1500-2000 INR at its best price and a healthworker per day may need 2-3 such kits to handle patients with this illness. We are targetting about 2500 - 3000 kits, more N95 masks and face shield/eyewear.

I am a Doctor, working with a few other doctors in this and this fund is for health workers working in the Government Hospitals. We have currently identified COVID hospitals of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh(Govt and Pvt medical Colleges taken over by Govt) and JIPMER, Puducherry as beneficiaries. However, the exact numbers will be dictated by the load around that time.

Already due to lack of proper supplies, many doctors and nurses were exposed to COVID positive patients, infecting their family members too in various hospitals of Pune, Delhi and also in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for 2weeks, reducing the number of staff. Indian Government has taken a good measure by locking down, and this is going to buy some time. It gives chance to study the course, spread and severity of the disease along with increasing the capacity of testing and procuring protective equipment. The number of cases have already gone up in numbers and as per the current epidemiological studies, there might possibly be a to surge further. Central and State governments are trying to fight the virus by various measures but maynot provide for all the areas and at all the times. So we're going to procure and distribute N95 masks, eye shields, full protective equipment and distribute them as much as we can to the places where there is deficit.
We humbly appeal for your help to raise the fund to procure more protective gear to be prepared in these difficult times.
I thank one and all in advance who're contributing, sharing the information and helping in all the ways possible for this noble cause.
