"When Jithendra was born, our lives had a new meaning and purpose. We wanted to give him a good life. Our son was our dream. Even when life was not very kind to us, throwing us in poverty, we held on to it because we wanted our son to live. We thought we will protect him always but we didn’t realise that there are few things that we have no control on. My son is now 10 years old and we have been struggling to keep him alive for the last 8 years. Doctors says his liver is damaged and he will not live if he doesn’t get a liver transplant."- Balaramudu, father

Jithendra bleeds from the nose and has severe muscle loss

Jithendra suffered from Jaundice when he was 2-years-old. Soon, he was diagnosed with a liver disease. Without money for the transplant, Shakunthala and her husband had to continue the medication for their son until recently when Jithendra started to bleed profusely from the nose. He also suffers muscle loss, making him extremely weak.

“He gets scared when he sees blood. He lies on my lap and closes his eyes. I feel terrible that as a mother I cannot do anything to take away his pain”- Shakunthala.

His parents sold their farm land-the only thing left with them

Jithendra’s parents sold their small farmland to save Jithendra’s life but it was not enough. When the family was looking for ways to gather funds, they lost their second daughter who was just 3 years old.

"After we lost our daughter, we became scared that Jithendra will leave us too. We decided that we will save him at any cost but we are failing. His condition is deteriorating every day. We need 18 lakhs for his transplant but we are nowhere close to arranging the funds."- Shakunthala

Time is running out for this 10-year-old

Jithendra is very scared. He is in a lot of pain and in extreme weakness. He is confused about why his parents are not doing anything to stop his pain.

He waits for help, wishing he could be home. He never had a life outside hospitals and he waits without knowing that he is slowly dying.
