    This fundraiser will benefit

    Jeniben Dhanabhai Paramar

    from Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Hi there, I'm Rakesh Roshan, from Patna, pursuing MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. I'm here to raise funds for Jeniben Dhanabhai Parmar, who is 40 years old.

On the way to the market to buy stuff, I came across a family living on the footpath just outside the IIM-A campus. They were preparing their meal on the footpath itself. I stopped that moment itself and tried to understand the issue.
Therefore, I interacted with the family members and asked about the difficulties they are facing. The head of the family, Dhanabhai Parmar, sells flowers in a temple nearby, and his wife (Jeniben) is a domestic helper. Collectively their income is Rs 6,000 a month.
The family has 5 children (4-daughters and a son, with 3 of them having a physical disability and 1 daughter with mental issues) and grandparents. Hence, there are 9 members in the family, and by any calculation, Rs 6,000 is not enough for the survival of such a family.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the income went further down, and a few days back, they didn't have money for food, so Jeniben had to sell her clothes to arrange food for the family. Therefore, at that moment, I gave them immediate financial so that they could buy ration.

They live on the road, which means that they are exposed to an open, unsafe, and polluted atmosphere with no water, bathroom, and other basic amenities. Currently, they take water from the house of the priest of the temple. The 4-children do not go to school because they cannot walk properly even with the supporting stands, and they are mentally weak. As a result, Dhanabhai is forced to stay with his family most of the time to take care of his children. Only one daughter goes to school.

On further inquiry, I found that Dhanabahi wants to set up a children's toy business. Once he sets up his business, he would get a constant income source, and probably after a couple of months, maybe they would be able to afford a rented house. Currently, they barely have money to make ends meet.

I'd request you all to help the family out in whatever capacity you can so that they could sustain themselves. Meanwhile, we're working to shift them to night-shelter homes temporarily. We're also working on getting their children admitted to government schools.

We need Rs.30,000 to help Dhanabhai Parmar (husband of Jeniben) set up a small business. Please come forward to support my cause. Any contribution will be of immense help. Do contribute and share this campaign link with your friends and family.
