I began Project KALA in September 2022 to shed light onto the different ethical and sustainable artisanal handicraft practices in Jaipur, Rajasthan to promote the production and sales of traditional handicrafts. 

Project KALA till date, has developed an 8-module guide to central traditional handicraft goods produced in Rajasthan to raise awareness on the comprehensive practices of creation, sustainability, and craftsmanship employed in the production of these goods, to promote local consumership. In addition, Project KALA launched a survey in collaboration with the Jaipur Rugs Foundation to study the lived experiences of local artisans, the findings of which were highlighted in a report discussing the trade cycle, profitability, product sourcing, market growth, and the challenges faced by the artisans. 

The Jaipur Rugs Foundation offers comprehensive support to local artisanal communities in the form of health care check-ups and assistance, educational and upskilling initiatives, promoting sustainable trades and practices, financial inclusion and empowerment, and women empowerment. 

Project KALA now seeks to supplement the initiatives of Jaipur Rugs Foundation in supporting the economic development and holistic wellbeing of local artisans in Rajasthan with the funds raised through this campaign.
