There are more than 50 lacs migrant laborers from Bihar who are stranded in different parts of our country without work today. These people are facing the inevitable question of -  How am I going to feed my family?

We at Innovators In Health (IIH) are planning to raise 10 lacs to help out nearly 1000 vulnerable families in Samastipur district of Bihar. Samastipur is a district in north Bihar which has the maximum out-migration. These families belong to the lowest rung of society and will face the brunt in this crisis situation. 

IIH works with the highly vulnerable population on various health issues; like tuberculosis, maternal and child health, and postpartum depression. Years of experience working with an infectious disease of TB has given us an in-depth understanding of the toll it can take on the most vulnerable. Currently, we are making tuberculosis drugs available to these patients even in lockdown and have the infrastructure ready to make prompt nutritional help to communities in and around.

With the money we fundraise, we will provide them with the following:

1.    Food: The immediate scarcity will be of basic food items to feed families of 10-12 members. We will provide these families with a package of essential food items (approx. Rs 450-Rs 500 each) like pulses, flaked rice, jaggery, and glucose biscuits. We need nearly 8 lacs for supporting nutritional needs for these families.
 
2. Medical support in case of emergencies: Many of these vulnerable families in case of emergencies will not have access to healthcare facilities. With the remaining amount of 2 lacs, we plan to provide emergency transportation and support in accessing institutional delivery to women in labour.
