Imagine a vibrant street carnival where ability differences dissolve into laughter, where art knows no boundaries, and where our community comes together to celebrate the spirit of inclusivity. This winter, Noble Mission is bringing this vision to life through "Open Door: Festival of Inclusivity" - Bengal's first-ever inclusive street carnival which is scheduled to be held on 15th December in Kolkata!
As someone who has dedicated three decades to rehabilitation psychology and special education, I've witnessed first-hand the transformative power of inclusive spaces. My journey has led me from leading Bengal's Special Olympics team to World Games to being honored with the State Award for Exceptional Contribution to Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. As the Director of Noble Mission, each experience has reinforced one fundamental truth: magic happens when we open our doors to everyone. Noble Mission's recognition with the prestigious Derozio Award from the ICSE Board stands as a testament to our commitment to disability rehabilitation and support.
This December, as winter embraces Bengal, we're creating a celebration that promises to warm hearts and bridge communities. The carnival will be a tapestry of experiences, featuring live art performances that showcase diverse talents, inclusive quiz competitions that challenge and engage, and exhibition stalls highlighting inspiring work. Participants will enjoy non-flame cooking demonstrations, interactive games, and solo and group performances that celebrate individual abilities. Each activity has been thoughtfully designed to create an atmosphere of joy, learning, and connection.
Noble Mission has touched the lives of over 700 students with intellectual and developmental delays in the past 25 years, and this carnival represents our next bold step. We're bringing together special, inclusive, and mainstream schools - students, parents, and teachers alike - for a day of unrestricted joy and connection. The event draws strength from our remarkable partnerships with Samaj Sebi Sangha, Sammilani Teachers Training College, the Department of Physical Education at Jadavpur University, Special Olympics Bharat, Interact Club of Noble Mission and the Rotary Club. These collaborations ensure that the carnival will be a landmark event in Bengal's journey toward inclusivity.
To make this pioneering carnival a reality, we're seeking to raise Rs. 10,00,000. Your generous contribution will help us create accessible and engaging activities for all participants, provide necessary support facilities, ensure proper organization and safety measures, and establish this event as a template for future inclusive celebrations. Every donation, regardless of size, brings us closer to our goal of creating a more inclusive society.
Your support won't just fund an event - it will help create a milestone in Bengal's journey toward true inclusivity. Each contribution helps us open more doors and break down more barriers. Join us in making history, in celebrating diversity, and in creating memories that will last a lifetime. Together, we can make "Open Door: Festival of Inclusivity" a beacon of hope and celebration for our community.
