Indielove foster care has been a home to over 9,000 animals over the last 9 years and yet today, we are on the verge of breaking down.
In the past, we were able to make a secure and sustainable structure which made sure that our funds were enough for the operation but recently the system is not working well because:
1. Foster kids whose parents ghost us: Many rescuers bring their rescues for foster under the pretext that they'll support their care financially even when we can't afford to. This makes us trust them and increase our intake only for the rescuers to not only ghost us later but also amass donations in our name that never reach us.
2. Rescue kids with no sponsors: In the last few months, our rescues have increased because of the number of accidents and maggot wounds in the near vicinity, due to cruel people who have put the animals and us in tough situations.
3. Regular maintenance: With more animals, we need more space and with more space we need to expand into more infrastructure that needs funds to make and maintain.
4. Complicated diagnosis needing more in house meds: In the last few months we have started taking in old, paralysed and debilitated animals who have multiple diseases in their diagnosis. Since we don't charge anything for the in house treatment we do, the cost of medicines incurred during our treatment is significantly high.
5. The number of kids under our care: We have now reached our maximum capacity so more food and resources are being used. With adoptions at an all time low, this puts an extra pressure on us.
To deal with this, we are making systemic changes and trying to get out of the stagnant situation. However, each system takes some time to settle in and show impact.
In the meantime, we are looking for help with funds so we can sustain instead of having to shut operating completely.
