From despair to dignity: An Impact and Dialogue Foundation initiative to rehabilitate human trafficking survivors.

Brief Background:
I am Pallabi Ghosh, an anti-trafficking activist in India. In the last 12 years, I’ve rescued more
than 10,000 women and children. During this time, I’ve realized that rescue, while necessary, is not enough. It is like treating an ailment without addressing its causes. There is a dire need to prevent these crimes from occurring in the first place, and I have dedicated my life—at grave personal risk—to the causes of prevention, rescue, and rehabilitation.
In 2020, during the pandemic, large numbers of children were being diagnosed with COVID- 19, but further investigation revealed that this was a front for a full-blown organ trafficking operation. It became clear to me then that my work needed to scale. When the criminals are well organized, those fighting them must be even more organized.

Why IDF?
This is why I founded Impact and Dialogue Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness, rescue, and rehabilitation of trafficking victims. We started working in the remote villages of Assam and Bengal - which are major sourcing regions for trafficking - to build awareness and engage local stakeholders like law enforcement agencies, panchayats, and schools to counter the horrible malaise of human trafficking.
Our Activities:
Rehabilitation is a massive part of what we do at Impact and Dialogue Foundation. By providing victims safe spaces where they learn life skills, improve their mental health, and learn to reassimilate into society, we are determined to prevent them from falling victim again to predators or getting ostracised from society.
