We at Hyderabad Pet Adoption – Cats and Kittens (HPACK) put our heart and soul into helping sick, injured, abandoned, and orphaned felines. We do this by rescuing, fostering, facilitating adoptions, and spay-neuter!
We take up kittens and cats not knowing their history, regardless of their health status. And we leave no stone unturned in their treatment and care till they are healthy to be adopted.
Sometimes, we get part of the funds needed from people who rescue and leave the kittens in our care. But most of the time, our fosters bear all expenses for the felines – including, but not limited to, food (normal and special diet), litter, medical, and transportation. We contribute monthly to our rainy day fund as well, which we use to help ANY needy cat.
But when it rains, it pours.
We now have vet bills that are beyond our financial capabilities and we need your help to save our half dozen sick kittens, nine motherless neonatal kittens, and one abandoned Persian cat. Each of them has required intensive, daily treatment – injections, fluids, blood tests. Between these kittens, we are battling feline panleukopenia virus (FPV), Feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR), haemoprotozoan infections, and pneumonia. We have already lost five little kittens in this multi-faceted battle! Please help us save the rest!
Total funds required is INR 1,00,000/-:
FPV cases: INR 60,000/-
Neonatals: INR 20,000/-
Abandoned Persian : INR 20,000/-
Meet some of the little souls that need you:
Mishri was rescued as an orphan who was bottle-fed by one of our fosters. Imagine her heartbreak when he tested positive for FPV. From being a highly active and cheerful bub he's dull, inactive and has lost all interest in food.
Mishri's foster brother Winky was a cheerful kitten who was found hiding under a car after being chased by dogs. He tested positive for FPV and started his treatment but his fragile & weak body couldn't take it and he succumbed to the disease.
Santorini, Cairo, and Kyoto were rescued from an overcrowding situation, already having lost a sibling to a dog attack. Santorini has tested positive for FPV. Due to the resultant brain damage, she is unable to walk properly and will likely have a permanent disability. Kyoto is battling a haemoprotozoan infection. Their third sibling Cairo passed away from FPV a few days back.
Faraday (named after the scientist Michael Faraday - a pioneer in the field of electricity) was rescued after he jumped onto electrical wires and was hanging from them in mid-air! A soft gentle boy who loves playing with toys and will purr incessantly when he is happy was diagnosed with the dreaded FPV virus. Despite an aggressive treatment regimen that seemed to help him, this baby boy succumbed to his illness.
Lavie was found alone and sick on the streets and left at an animal shelter. We took her into our care as she was clearly unwell, and she was diagnosed with feline herpes, or rhinotracheitis. Despite days of intensive treatment, she lost the fight.
Lucky was all set to go to a lovely home but unfortunately, he too contracted the dreaded FPV and in spite of our best efforts he didn’t make it. He was admitted as an inpatient to receive intensive treatment but it was all in vain and we lost him.
Leo is a 5+-year-old Persian who was abandoned and found hiding in the bushes near a farmhouse. His rescuer couldn’t keep him for long as she was moving overseas. With the huge demand for Persians, Leo ran the risk of landing up in a breeder’s den when our team swooped in to take him under our wing. He has pneumonia and gastroenteritis but thanks to the quick and accurate actions of the foster and the vet Leo is on his way to a full recovery. He will soon be vaccinated, groomed, and neutered before he is adopted.
Our foster kids are fighting hard with everything their little bodies have to offer, and us foster parents will not rest until we win these battles. Please help us sustain the life-saving treatment that's helping them and taking them closer to a full recovery!
Our motherless neonatal troops:
Ever so often the mothers go out in search of food & leave their babies unattended. Many are killed in accidents leaving behind orphans. Often the kittens are displaced by intolerant humans. Whatever be the reason, these little ones are left to die if it weren’t for kindhearted fosters who spend many a sleepless night to raise these babies who need to be fed every two hours and monitored frequently as they can slip away very quickly. Their care is not only demanding but expensive. Each milk supplement can cost INR 1200 and a kitten will need one for at least 40 days before being weaned off. At present we are caring for 12 neonates.
Hyderabad Pet Adoption – Cats & Kittens formally started as a group in 2019 when a group of cat lovers in Hyderabad, India who have individually been working towards the rescue, foster, adoption, and spay/neuter of cats and kittens came together to pool their experience and expertise to reach out to more. Each one of us have full-time jobs/family commitments but our love for felines led us to consolidate our efforts and form this network of cat welfare.
