Fund A Brick
Asha Kiran Hospital is the only charitable hospital in 2 districts in Odisha and 1 district in Andhra Pradesh, India serving a population of 15,00,000 people.
Since 1992, Asha Kiran Hospital has been a 'pro-poor' hospital, where no one is turned away for lack of money. Located in the remote tribal region of Lamtaput, Odisha, it serves over 40,000 patients every year.
The Need
Originally built as a low-cost facility with an expected structural life of 25 years, the hospital has now outlived its intended lifespan.
- While the hospital infrastructure met all applicable standards at the time of construction, it now requires upgradation to comply with current Clinical Establishment Act regulations. However, significant structural modifications are not feasible without affecting the stability, and safety of the building.
- We operate at 92% bed occupancy, indicating sustained overcapacity and hence, we plan to undertake constructing a new building for the hospital to support additional clinical specialties
- License renewal is due soon, making infrastructure upgradation an urgent matter.

Guided by the needs of the community, we have also identified specific services
