My goal is to attain a career where I can use my specialized human management skills combined with a strong business psychology background to help organizations implement psychological principles and research methods to improve the overall work environment, including performance, communication, professional satisfaction and safety. I want to study this course to bring about a change in the Indian Human Resource Management departments. Right now no one that I know of, seems to understand the role of psychology in human resource management and. I want them to know that human resource management is the management of human resources, to maximize employee performance in service and his strategic objective; and an industrial psychologist will focus on the behaviour of employees in the workplace, by applying psychological principles to improve the overall work environment.
My father was a huge inspiration behind me wanting to aspire  Human Resource Management. The working hours of his office are insane; he goes to office at 9 a.m and returns home only at 9 p.m. I have personally been to the office and seen the physical working conditions and they are not so good and comfortable. I have seen my father suffer a lot due to this and recently he even developed dry eye problem which happens due to long exposure of screentime. As he was not comfortable while working, it indirectly hampered his productivity. Not a single person from the HR department took him into consideration and instead everybody blamed my father to be an inefficient officer. This particular incident hit me hard.

I was born in the substantially backward city of Guwahati in Assam to a family with modest means of sustenance. After my birth, my father got transferred to Margherita, located in Assam - Arunachal border. It is a proper village but has been developed a bit due to Coal India. There used to be an acute shortage of basic amenities such as electricity, drinking water and schools with inadequate infrastructure. These obstacles were further constrained by the financial problems of my family. 

Coming from a middle-class Indian family, education is always one of the foremost requirements. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instil in my family value and love towards learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication. Despite all these odds, I have been among the toppers of my class in academics and fetching accolades to my school by winning various academic competitions.

My family has made many sacrifices to allow me to focus on education throughout primary and secondary school and under-graduation. The decision of studying abroad is not exactly feasible considering my family’s financial situation and it would be a burden on my parents to send their child abroad for pursuing higher studies. My father is the only earning source and we are four of us who are dependent on him. However, furthering my education abroad has always been my dream and contributing the society in the field of Business Psychology and its allied area is my professional goal. I have received an offer letter from the University of Leeds for MSc in Business Psychology and I really want to study there. But the fees are very expensive. It is a commitment to myself and I am sure that I will definitely regret it if I do not follow my heart. If I do not get this scholarship, I might have to turn to my parents for financial support and it would undoubtedly be a daunting task for them to manage required financial support.
