Hello dear friends and family, I'm reaching out with a piece of my heart today. My journey from rural India to pursuing a PhD in Gender and Diversity Studies at Radboud University, Netherlands is a dream I've been tirelessly working towards. It's a journey that's been shaped by overcoming obstacles and defying expectations. Now, I need your support to make this dream a reality. Your contribution means more to me than words can express. It's not just about my journey; it's about empowering marginalized voices, breaking barriers, and creating a brighter future. Your support, no matter how small, will have a profound impact. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this meaningful journey with me.

Introduction:
In the heart of dense, remote tribal villages, life is a delicate balance between challenges and rewards. Limited food access, the luxury of sanitation, and rare outside communication define existence here. In 2018, I received an exceptional opportunity to immerse myself in this life during my research internship in a central Indian tribal village. My mission was clear: to foster the development of these tribal communities. Alongside my research, I dedicated countless hours to prepare for the NET exam, a pivotal requirement for an Assistant Professor position in India. My unyielding determination bore fruit when I passed the exam, securing my role as a guest lecturer at Government College Kasaragod in India. This achievement marked a pivotal moment on my path before embarking on a journey to the UK for my Master's degree, a testament to my unwavering dedication to realizing my aspirations.

Introducing Myself:
I am Hafeesha, hailing from a lower-class Muslim family in India. Currently, I work as a mental health support worker in Brighton, UK. Today, I share my story and reach out to you for support to pursue my PhD in Gender and Diversity Studies at Radboud University—a journey that embodies my dreams of becoming an academic and a feminist writer.

Breaking the Mold:
I come from a culture where early marriage for girls is the norm, and women were historically confined to visiting the nearest town only when accompanied by men. Through persistent efforts, I shattered these chains. I challenged male dominance to pursue higher education and became the sole provider for my entire family. The journey was exceptionally challenging, but my persistence now holds meaning as girls in my family and community prioritize education above all else.

Academic Pursuits:
I earned my first master's degree in Media Studies from the renowned University of Hyderabad, an institution known for excellence in Media Studies in India. Fueled by my passion for understanding diverse cultures, gender dynamics, intersectionality, and power relations, I pursued my second master's degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex.

Going Beyond the Classroom:
During my master's studies, I refused to confine my learning to the classroom. Instead, I actively engaged with organizations dedicated to empowering marginalized communities and women in South and Central India. I authored academic papers presented at approximately eight national and international conferences. Notably, my research on tribal languages gained recognition and was published by UNESCO and the British Council in Thailand. My continuous commitment to advocating for women's rights is evident in my master's thesis, which delved into the impact of patriarchy on menstrual hygiene among Muslim women in North India.

Facing Challenges Head-On:
Throughout my academic journey, I confronted numerous family challenges, including my father's health, housing conditions, and my brother's education. Despite these adversities, I remained resolute in protecting my academic pursuits. Despite financial difficulties during my master's program and the responsibility of supporting my family, I excelled, receiving the 'Andrew Pickup Global Citizen Award' from the University of Sussex and graduating with merit.

PhD Opportunity:
Despite a two-year academic break to repay my master's degree loan, I persevered and recently received a PhD offer from Radboud University in the Netherlands in the Gender and Diversity Department. My PhD project aims to uncover hidden forms of violence against minority communities, making a meaningful contribution to society. This opportunity holds profound significance in my life, as it allows me to delve into the intersectionality and lived experiences of brown Muslim women.

Financial Challenge:
While the university does not require me to pay tuition fees, I do need to secure approximately £1200 per month for living expenses over the span of four years. This poses a financial challenge given my disadvantaged background, but I am determined not to let it deter my ambitions.

Inspiration and Commitment:
As a first-generation graduate from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, I aspire to inspire my family and women in my community. I am a brown woman who stands here today because many women stood up for each other. I am committed to standing up for the girls and women I encounter on my journey. Despite my disadvantaged upbringing, I've consistently pushed myself, succeeding in every endeavor through relentless effort and determination. I humbly seek your support for my PhD journey, with a promise to give back to society through my impactful works and by empowering marginalized women.

Join My Journey:
I invite you to join me on this extraordinary journey of breaking boundaries and shaping a brighter future. Your support is not just a contribution; it's an investment in empowering marginalized voices and making the world a more equitable place. Together, we can turn dreams into reality and change lives. Thank you for believing in me and my vision.
