We are Jyothirgamaya foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2015 with the aim of empowering the blind. The founder of our organization Tiffany Brar was diagnosed as blind at birth, due to a medical mistake during childbirth, and as she walked through life, she has faced a great deal of discrimination over her disability.
As she grew up, she realized that most persons who come from marginalized communities, groups, or identities, are always pushed to the side, and never given an opportunity to represent themselves and speak for themselves. Her mission behind the organization is to empower blind people to be independent and enter spaces to tell their own stories without having their voices being drowned out, or them being looked upon as victims.
She has been working specifically with blind persons from rural areas and extremely marginalized groups or communities, in assisting them to showcase their voice, their stories, and their talent to the world.

Why are we raising funds?
Unfortunately, due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, almost all our students, and their family members have lost their jobs, and are unable to afford even two square meals a day, or even have access to basic medicine. The disability community faces one of the highest obstacles when it comes to the health infrastructure in India, and this has added another layer of complexities to their lives.
Through this fundraiser, we would like to support our students and their families during these difficult times, to help them come out of this situation stronger than before, and to help them continue on their path of independence, empowerment, and showcasing of their voices.
How will we use these funds?
We will be using the funds to distribute food kits, and small pensions will be transferred to concerned families' bank accounts for medicines, clothing and other daily needs
Please do support us with any amount you can, as this would help our students go a very long way.
