Vidarbha region is unfortunate to witness the highest number of farmer’s suicide in India due to climate change and other several reasons. We know that you are worried as a producer of Food Grains is not happy.
Krushi Vikas, with its 3 decades’ association with farmers, has come up with an innovative concept “GreenAct” to support these farmers. Here is the story of one such farmer.
Nilesh Pandurang Kinge lives in Talni, Buldana district with his two children (one daughter and son), wife and parents. Nilesh produces Cotton, Jowar, Groundnut, Bajara and earns INR 80,000 each year to meet his family requirements and give them a good life.
Unfortunately, Nilesh met with a bad accident where he injured his leg and now unable to work on a farm with earlier strength. Nilesh wasn’t able to abridgment this fact since he has to take care of his family.
He knew that investing too much time at the farm and do the harvesting, isn’t a good option for him in this condition. Nilesh’s situation was getting difficult thinking about his family, children's quality education and fulfilling the basic needs of the family.
Nilesh’s income diminished by 25% and the situation worsened each day. Providing good education to the children and a good life to his family, was one question that made Nilesh’s life more miserable. Amidst all these, Nilesh was trying to search other options of income and finally came to know about GreenAct during one of the awareness programs.
GreenAct approached Nilesh, heard his story, met his family and provided the solution. Nilesh was happy and partnered with GreenAct. He planted 50+ Mango trees in his land with the help of GreenAct and is now getting monthly financial support against the possible work done for the survival of trees on his farm.
He will get the support for 4 years and afterward fruits will be the source of income for him at least for the next 15 years.
This is how GreenAct plans to sustain the livelihood of farmers in distress. Increasing green cover in the village will also help in combating climate change which ultimately results in reducing temperature and assuring timely and sufficient rainfall benefitting a larger group of farmers.
Join hand with us to support Nilesh and other such farmers in distress and also to help nurture the environment.
