Campaign Asha - Help Feed Daily Workers During The Covid-19 Lockdown

Tax benefits
Help us bring hope -- Asha -- to migrant labourers and daily wagers in Delhi/NCR during the Covid-19 lockdown. Let's stand together and take care of each other in this hour of need.

Campaign Asha In A Nutshell
-- NOIDA COVID RELIEF 2020 - So no one goes to bed hungry...
Thiis project has reached 20,211 migrant workers and daily wagers with Dry Ration Kits (between March 30, 2020 and May 29, 2020).
-- MIGRANT TRAVEL SUPPORT - So everyone gets home safe...
Given the ground realities and how they are changing, as of May 27, 2020, we have also been working on providing non-perishable food kits for migrant workers and their families on their journeys home.

DETAILS ABOUT OUR WORK
As we know, the Covid-19 lockdown has impacted the lives and livelihoods of thousands of migrant labourers and daily wagers who work across Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Currently stranded without a source of income or food, they are struggling to survive.

1. NOIDA COVID RELIEF 2020*
enCOMPASSion - a Goonj partner - is working actively to support migrant labourers and daily wagers survive the lockdown.
We provide Relief Kits (dry ration, hygiene, and vegetables) to our migrant labourers and daily wagers, who are stranded without access to livelihood or sustenance, in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. We also respond to SOS calls from some parts of Delhi.
As of May 29, we have reached 20,211 migrant labourers and daily workers, thanks to your support.

To ensure our Relief Kits reach our target demographic, we have instituted the following process:
1. Robust Verification:
Once the request comes in on our online form, we do a telephonic verification followed by an on-ground assessment.
2. Coupons: For larger requirements, we distribute Relief Coupons prior to Distribution.
3. Sourcing: Through Goonj Relief Kits, or through procurement from wholesalers.
4. Distribution: In coordination with the local police departments, and through dedicated, trusted volunteers.
5. Social Distancing and Safety: The support from the police department also ensures that all guidelines of social distancing are followed.

2. MIGRANT TRAVEL SUPPORT
Now, as the lockdown restrictions are easing, many people are trying to make their way home. Even though transport for these workers is beginning to be arranged back to their home states, they often find themselves relocated from one place to another, with long waiting hours and no clear destination in sight.
Given the current situation, as of May 27, enCOMPASSion has added a pillar to our relief work: to provide NON-PERISHABLE FOOD KITS to workers beginning their long journeys back home, as it may often be the case that they will find themselves with no food for many hours, even days at end.
For Travel Kits, we have relied on crowdfunding through this campaign, and through donations in kind.

GET INVOLVED!
We invite you to be part of this chain of support, do contribute and/or spread the word!
Through Campaign Asha (Hope), we ask for your help to make sure no one goes to bed hungry, and everyone goes home safe. Stand with us and help us to get everyone through this crisis.
Every drop counts!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1. Donate monetarily:
Any contribution you make goes directly towards ensuring that our RELIEF KITS and TRAVEL KITS reach those in need,
Given ground realities and price-fluctuations, our RELIEF KITS cost approximately Rs. 1500. This is sufficient to feed a family of 5 for about 2 weeks.

2. Help us spread the word!:
Please share this campaign widely, so we can reach our goals!

*We want to acknowledge our collaboration of Fidus Law Chambers through the first two months of this project. As they shift focus to supporting those impacted by Cyclone Amphan, we hope to continue the work in the coming months.

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your support

Campaign Asha carries on.

At the end of this week, as of June 20th, we have brought Dry Ration Relief Kits to 25,447 individuals in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, and for some SOS calls in New Delhi.

We had also started offering TRAVEL KITS with non-perishable food for those on the road. Thanks to the donations in kind and in cash, we were able to bring these kits to approximately 3,571 migrant workers heading home.

Thanks to the unending support of GOONJ, our dedicated volunteers, and our donors and supporters, we can carry this work onwards.

We intend to bring our ration relief to a meaningful closure by the end of June 2020. As the country "unlocks", the nature of the ground realities are also changing. We want to ensure that we continue to support families until they can get back on their feet in July.

Through June, we estimate that we will reach 1650 families, some of whom have been prior recipients and are still struggling to make ends meet. For this, we have raised our campaign goals to Rs. 30,00,000.
To understand our finances a bit better, do read our accounts report from June 3rd: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QSxzrANVM3ofRk25qNWy_WL3_UkA3eeX/view
So far, we have raised Rs. 13,11,886; we still need to raise Rs. 16,88,114.
Please help us spread the word so we can continue to bring hope to migrant workers and daily wagers during the Covid-19 Lockdown.

We will continue to meaningfully engage with the daily worker community in Noida and Greater Noida in the coming months. We are revisiting our strategy this month to concretize our interventions as we progress in July.

GRATITUDE
We would like to thank GOONJ for supporting our work with sourcing relief materials for both Relief and Travel Kits. We also acknowledge the invaluable partnership of Fidus Law Chamber during the first two months of this project.

We would also like to place on records, our gratitude to the numerous supporters and partners: Pratyek Foundation with St. Columbus School, Sakshi NGO, MCKS Foundation, Delhi Langar Seva, and many others for their support with procurement and supplies.
In addition to this, while the numbers are too long to list, we extend deep gratitude to every single donor who supported Campaign Asha. We received donations between the range of Rs. 51 and Rs. 2,00,000 on this campaign so far. Some of you have held campaigns for our campaign, run workshops, and events through which funding has come to us. We cannot express enough gratitude for this; every single rupee has meant a lot, every single contribution deeply valued. Thank you.

Finally, without volunteers, this operation would not have worked. There is no way to describe the grit and determination required for engaging day after day with vulnerable communities, facing the poverty and real-time crises that impact so many people in this country. Countless hours of back-end work supports the feet on the ground. This has been momentous work, a deep learning, and growing experience - and it all happens when we come together.
