Prem Illam is more than a home; it’s a haven of hope for girls with intellectual and physical disabilities in Madurantakam. Established in 2017 under the Prem Charitable Trust, it provides a safe and nurturing environment where these girls receive livelihood support, vocational training, and the tools to achieve greater independence.
Our Story
In 1999, Prem Charitable Trust established Prema Vasam, a home for special and school-going children in Gerugambakkam, Chennai. By 2015, we were caring for over 250 children. Due to space constraints, we needed to expand and decided to start a separate home exclusively for girls. This led to the founding of Prem Illam in 2017, complementing our flourishing boys’ home in Arakkonam.
Today, Prem Illam is home to 30 wonderful girls who thrive under the dedicated care of Indra, our inspirational caregiver. Despite being on a wheelchair, Indra's love and devotion ensure our children receive the best care and support.
Why We Need Your Help
After eight years, the time has come to expand. To better serve our girls, we have started constructing an additional floor at Prem Illam. The total cost of the project is ₹1,58,00,000. To make this vision a reality, we need your generous support.
We have launched a fundraiser on Milaap to help cover the construction costs. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of our girls, providing them with better facilities and a brighter future.
