Gayatri Devi, age - 65, met with a dreadful accident on the afternoon of 3rd Feb, when a four-wheeler ran over her's both legs. The accident left serious injury on both of her legs, with multiple fractures on one leg, while another leg is severely damaged. She was kept in the ICU of Global Nursing Home, Siliguri. The possible treatment for the serious injury as prescribed by the doctor was to do a plastic surgery in order to avoid the amputation of one leg which was severely damaged. The plastic surgeon after doing two operations referred the case to Dr. R. N. Singh of Anup Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation (AIOR), Patna for further treatment. She was then shifted to Patna from Siliguri on 7th Feb. After a couple of surgery there, the doctor finally decided to ampute the right leg, seeing the deteriorating condition of that leg. The amputation of leg was done on 12th Feb. Now the doctor has decided, only after healing of the right leg they will be able to treat the left leg which also have multiple fractures. For further treatment multiple surgery has been suggested by the doctor and an implant of the prosthetic leg. The resources available has already been exhausted for completing these treatments. For further treatment an estimation of 4 lac rupees excluding medicine and hospital charges is made by the hospital authority. I tried my best to stop the amputation of the leg, but with all help and support could not avoid it. A kind help from your side can save her from becoming a handicap for life. I request you all to please support her to his difficult times. The prescription and X-ray images of her are attached to this post.
