The Problem: Our Villages Need a Better Waste Management System

Imagine living in a beautiful Himalayan village surrounded by forests and rivers, but having no reliable system to collect and manage household waste.

In many remote Himalayan communities, people have very limited waste management options. As a result, waste is often burned or dumped in open areas, near rivers, and around forest landscapes. This threatens the environment, wildlife, and the health of local communities.
Ganga Bhogpur, near Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand, needs a sustainable, community-led solution.

Our Solution: The Zero Waste Village Initiative
Him Village Eprahari Foundation is working with local communities to build a practical waste management model in Ganga Bhogpur.
Our initiative focuses on waste segregation, regular collection, recycling partnerships, community awareness, and local participation. We want to create a system that the village can sustain over time and that can inspire other Himalayan villages.
Our Impact So Far
  • 90 families engaged in our Zero Waste Village Initiative.
  • Approximately 13 tonnes of waste collected and diverted from unsafe disposal.
  • 500+ volunteers involved in community action and environmental awareness.
  • Ongoing community efforts to reduce waste pollution around the Rajaji National Park landscape.
These efforts are an important beginning, but we need continued support to make the system more reliable and sustainable.
Why We Are Raising ₹2,00,000
We are raising ₹2 lakh to strengthen our work in Ganga Bhogpur and build a more consistent village-level waste management system.
Your contribution will support:
1. Waste Collection Bags – ₹25,000
Provide reusable collection bags to households and support waste segregation at the source.
2. Salary for One Local Employee – ₹1,20,000
Support one employee for 10 months at ₹12,000 per month to coordinate waste collection, community engagement, and daily operations.
3. Waste Transportation – ₹35,000
Help transport collected waste to appropriate sorting, recycling, and processing facilities.
4. Community Awareness Campaigns – ₹20,000
Organise awareness activities, village cleanliness campaigns, and educational activities for local communities and schools.
Total Fundraising Goal: ₹2,00,000
