My name is Ganesh Kumar, a 6th-semester MCA student (Batch 2023–26). I belong to Bhabhua (Kaimur), Bihar, and I am living with a severe hearing impairment. I lost my hearing ability at the age of 8.
For the past 18 years, I have struggled to hear, understand speech, and communicate with others. Simple conversations, classroom lectures, and daily interactions have always been a challenge. Despite this, I never gave up and continued my education with determination.
Due to my family’s financial condition, I could not receive proper medical treatment. For the past five years, I have been using a hearing aid, but it has not been effective, and my condition remains difficult.
Recently, after detailed medical evaluation and consultation with specialists, doctors have recommended cochlear implant surgery as the only effective solution for my condition.
The total cost of the treatment is approximately ₹17,30,000, including the implant device, surgery, and post-treatment care.
Unfortunately, this amount is far beyond what my family can afford. My father is the only earning member of our family, and he earns around ₹17,000 per month, which is just enough to manage our basic household expenses. Because of this, arranging such a large amount is not possible for us.
Every day, I worry about my future — whether I will be able to build a career and support my family, or become a burden on them. My father has carried all responsibilities alone, and my biggest dream is to reduce his burden and give my family a better life.
This surgery is not just a treatment for me…It is my chance to hear, to communicate confidently, to live with dignity, and to build a future.
