This is to certify that G Hemanth Kumar, S/O G Bhaskar has been suffering with “Beta Thalassemia Major” since 6 years. Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder characterized by inadequate synthesis of red blood cell protein known as hemoglobin that carries oxygen to the tissues. The child is affected when both the parents are carriers for thalassemia.
Thalassemia is a severe disease which requires many resources, both medical and financial. The disease is expressed by chronic hemolytic anemia which requires regular blood transfusions every 15 days.
As a result of the blood transfusions and the iron absorption by the digestive tract, the patients suffer from severe hemosiderosis which is the main cause of death in the disease, mainly in the second decade for life. Daily treatment with iron chelator is required. Moreover, despite the actual treatment, the quality of life of those patients is still low.
Bone Marrow Transplantation is the only cure for Thalassemia provided a suitable HLA matched donor is available.
G Hemanth Kumar is a registered patient of our society and is visiting our society regularly for blood transfusions and other medical facilities. He has got a matching donor for Bone Marrow Transplantation who is a sibling named G Sankeerthana aged 6yrs. Bone Marrow Transplantation costs around Rs.9, 00,000/- (Nine Lakhs)
Hence we request you to kindly support the child by your generous contribution, which will be highly appreciated.
