Global Shapers is a volunteer arm of the World Economic Forum. The Global Shapers Mumbai Hub looks upon itself as being the torchbearer of shaping Mumbai with initiatives to build inclusiveness and equity for all as we navigate the sensitive and complex change management.
One of our Projects is The Feed’em Movement which is an initiative focused on removing food insecurity in Mumbai. This February, The Feed'em Movement is gearing up for the 'Feed’em Week' where we aim to feed 10,000 meals to people and animals in a single week of love and along the way make every participant experience the joy of feeding thereby driving donation of food as a habit than an event. While the pandemic has brought negative impact on several marginalised communities, one of the major consequences has been increased hunger and food insecurity. The UN FAO has indicated that a total of 842 million are already estimated to be suffering from chronic hunger, regularly not getting enough food to conduct an active life and the COVID-19 pandemic might now add between 83 and 132 million people to the total number of undernourished in the world in 2020.
We’re looking to join forces with citizens, corporates and hubs who would like to collaboratively participate in the Feed’em Week. If you are interested in joining hands with us, please do let us know or write in to gsmumbaihub@gmail.com. We hope to receive your support in our larger goal of improving food insecurity in all of our communities!
