Why crowdfunding?
‘Periods’, ‘that time of the month’, or ‘menstruation’; we call the female menstruation by several names. We learn about it in school, yet we grow up in a society where this biological phenomenon is still considered as a taboo. People should consider a girl healthy to have her periods, but they treat her like she is ritually unclean!
Why do we feel embarrassed talking about a natural process that helps bring new life to the world?
Flying Boat is starting an initiative Suvidha which is a Sanitary Napkin Distribution Campaign. We have realized that there are so many women in financially deprived households who use grass, cloth, or newspaper during their menstrual cycle. These are highly unhygienic and can lead to a lot of infections.
We want to provide women with a safer option – sanitary pads. As part of our initiative Suvidha, we will distribute free sanitary napkins for at least 4 months in slum areas and government schools. It is also important for girls to have complete knowledge of Menstruation. So, we will also conduct workshops on menstrual hygiene where all their questions will be answered. It’s time we talk openly about this instead of hiding it in those black carry bags…
About Flying Boat Foundation
Flying Boat Foundation came into existence on 20th September 2017. It was co-founded by Udit Prasad and Parul Bhalla to promote women empowerment in our society. We provide study, practice and education of music, art, dance, acting, poetry, and skill development to help promote creativity. We want to make our society a better place to live in.
How much fund do we need to achieve our goal?
