An Update:
We are very excited to announce that large direct donations to the project (outside of Milaap) now account for 80 Lakhs! Every donation you made here helped us get closer to our goal.
We have now raised enough to build 8 classrooms. We will be starting construction this Friday, May 5th. It is is Buddha Poornima, an auspicious day to start a project like this. We do hope to complete the construction as planned during the next 8 weeks, so that the children can return from their summer holidays to a full-day school schedule!!
We will keep updating this space with photos of the construction once it has taken off, so stay tuned!
Thank you so much for all your support!
In 2013, the Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills (RCJH) adopted the Film Nagar Durga Bhavani primary school and the Film Nagar high school, the government funded and operated school system located in Film Nagar, Hyderabad.
The ask
Currently, Film Nagar school students are receiving only 3.5 hours of education rather than the 6 hours mandated by the Indian government’s Right to Education Act.
Project details
Current size of the school: 1500 students, in 19 classrooms, 3 staff rooms, 1 computer room and 1 lab
Additional capacity required:
Construction type approved by the Department of Education, Govt. of Telangana:
Pre-fabricated structure to save on time, since the entire project needs to be completed during the 2 month summer holidays (April-May 2023) and due to lack of space to store construction materials.
Fundraising Goal: 1 crore (approximately 120,000 dollars)
Deadline: May 15, 2023
Project cost breakup:
10 lakhs per classroom x 10 classrooms (approximately 12,000$ each)
Consider donating a classroom dedicated to the memory of a loved one – RCJH and the school would be happy to honour that dedication with a plaque in the classroom!
All donations from India made to the RCJH Trust are eligible for an 80G exemption.
