Story

After experiencing the extreme negligence and poverty affecting the children (mainly girls) of the Kalakar Colony slum in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Tamara Moss began working for their upliftment in 2015. She began the Sunflower Learning Centre which ran activity based learning for all the children of the slum from 2016-2019.

In June 2019, 10 children out of the 77 whom we worked with received individual sponsorship and are attending a suitable private school. We are so proud of the joint efforts of our team in supporting the progress made by the children and their families.

Most of our work has been centred around raising the awareness of the families. Through years of counselling they have come to understand the value and necessity of their daughters' accessing quality education.

Now our 8 girls and 2 boys need a daily tiffin for 10 1/2 school attendance months of the year. As their families are all below poverty line they are unable to provide proper nutritious meals which the children require for their concentration in studies.

We are reaching out to sponsors to donate towards the annual meal fees and petty school costs.

The daily tiffin consists of:

--Rice and Dhal
--1 fruit
--Green Salad
--6 soaked almonds

For most of the children, this is their only nutritious meal of the day.
