Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd, M-east ward (Mumbai) is suffering not only with COVID-19 (M-east ward has the highest % of deaths in Mumbai as per latest reports) but is also suffering from hunger, lack of support, anxiety that's bubbling up and neglect. The nearby areas such as low-income homes of Chembur, Kurla, Govandi, and Ghatkopar are also experiencing similar challenges.
I, Sangeeta Zombade, live in one of these homes and I am witnessing this first hand, from within the community. And I am also seeing the stories of care that members of the community are extending despite having so little themselves, volunteers from Prayatna - a local youth collective - stepping up to garner support for the families, Apni Shala team galvanizing support from so many well-wishers from around the globe and providing psycho-social support to families, donors coming forward and supporting with whatever they can.
We can help these communities fight hunger and COVID, with a little help from you. Donate all you can.
