The Rural India Health Project Hospital (RIHP) is a unique secondary care hospital started in the year 1964 at Ammathi, a small village in Kodagu District by a public trust currently managed by the Tata Coffee Ltd, Pollibetta. RIHP is the leading private hospital in the district with 48 beds capacity. RIHP is the only hospital in this area providing 24 X 7 dedicated medical, emergency care, surgical and casualty services with digital X – Ray, ECG and Physiotherapy facilities. In addition, a Diagnostic Centre with well-equipped Laboratory services and two Ambulance Services (One with critical care facilities and AC) have been established. There are General
Wards, Semi-Special and Special Wards, Deluxe ward and VIP ward. A well-equipped OT and ICU are available to handle emergency cases. Specialist Doctors, duty Doctors and Nursing staff
are staying within the hospital providing 24x7 service to the patients. The emergency patients referred to the RIHP are treated within the GOLDEN HOUR with emergency first aid and are
stabilized, before referring to tertiary care hospitals, as per the need.
Since its inception, the RIHP has been striving hard in delivering quality health care services at an affordable level particularly to the rural population including plantation labourers and tribals.
Health care facilities in the area are limited, forcing people to go to Mysore and Mangalore for treatment which poor people cannot afford. Upgrading the RIHP will help a great deal in fulfilling
this gap and meeting the needs of rural poor. Keeping this as a priority, RIHP has a vision and plan to upgrade the hospital to provide bouquet of quality services by seeking the support of
individuals and corporate donors (under CSR) in addition to the support provides by Tata Coffee Ltd under its CSR activities. The facilities required to upgrade the hospital are indicated in the
attached list with the estimated costs (about Rs.2 crore). The Board of Trustees of RIHP sincerely seek your esteemed support in terms of financial contribution or providing equipment's to enable the RIHP to upgrade its operation theatres, addition of new Ophthalmic and Dialysis units, and other facilities.
