Patients with missing parts of the face and mouth, either since birth or due to traumatic incidents like cancer surgery, acid attacks or burns accept physical disability as fate! Normal activities like speaking, swallowing, eating and social interactions become a challenge often making such patients a social recluse.
Please visit https://www.facebook.com/SocialInitiative/videos/644392512793388/ for an initial preview of the unmet need.
The Enhance Social Initiative plans to make 4 short films to create awareness on the plight of patients with such defects and also the resulting impact with timely rehabilitation. We would like to target stories of 4 rehabilitated patients and their journey with cancer and cancer rehabilitation and the impact it has made in their lives. Each story comes with a different background demographically, indicating that rehabilitation is a necessity and not a luxury irrespective of age, sex, location, and profession. Hence we have chosen 4 stories as follows:
• Young independent urban female
• Elder urban house-wife
• Elder rural Male
• Young small-time business owner from a town
The above permutations would help us to achieve our intended objective highlighting challenges in each of the above-mentioned demographies and how they are relevant in their respective setting. A housewife needs rehabilitation too. Her house is her world and she needs to be rehabilitated to get back to her world.
