Each one of them has a story to share. These are the stories of dreams, hope, survival, or triumph, every story is worth hearing and importantly worth living.
Hearing them can make one believe that there is always life at the end of the tunnel and that even the smallest effort in transforming lives is valuable. We would like to present stories of hundreds of underprivileged rural girls of Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES) whose journeys are the epitome of struggle, hard work, and relentless determination.
Founded in the year 2000, PPES has been providing free education to underprivileged rural girls of Anupshahr in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. We teach our girls who are first-generation learners to be self-sufficient and to break the cycle of patriarchy.
We request your support to publish a compilation of short stories and illustrations by these girls which will provide them with a platform to voice their journeys and others to take inspiration and support more such girls for their education.
Utilization of funds
The funds will be utilised for publishing of the book.
Founded in the year 2000, the PPES journey started with just 31 girls in the first batch at the school. Due to the age-old patriarchal society and the mindset of the community towards the girl child, girls were not sent to school. With years of consistent efforts, PPES is now working with around 2,500 girls and approximately 10,400 women (Of 10,400, PPES is working directly with 6,000 SHG women and 4,400 are working with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) program of government) in 120 villages around Anupshahr town in Western Uttar Pradesh. The objective is the social upliftment and economic empowerment of the girls and women in this region. Our interventions are in the fields of Education (Formal School & Higher Education), Health & Hygiene, Community Development, and Economic Empowerment.
With the ultimate aim of ensuring financial independence for these girls and women, PPES also ensures that they are equal and contributing members of their families and communities. Education is the cornerstone of the organization's goal to alleviate poverty and create a fair and gender-just society.
