At CPB, the driving force behind our investment in teaching photography is getting to see the sheer joy, confidence, and pride on our students' faces when they see their photographs printed.
It's our hope of bringing that feeling onto as many faces as possible that keeps us going.
A lot of children rarely, if ever, believe in their own creativity. They're rarely ever celebrated for being enough exactly as they are, or reminded that everythning they have to say, and everything they feel, deserves to be heard.
That's where we need help.
Our vision is to have every child believe with conviction that their voice deserves to be heard. That the most mundane of their experiences are worth talking about, and the lightest or heaviest of their emotions are worth sharing.
This giving season you can help us show children that every part of their story, from the boring to the dramatic, to the hopeful , is worth listening to, worth celebrating and worthy of attention - that the stories they have of their homes, their best friends, their favourite games or the things that make them laugh are important.
Art education remains a luxury for underserved communities - due to lack of time, lack of teachers, lack of materials and lack of funding.
