The scourge of coronavirus has hit daily wage workers the hardest who lack savings or access to basic necessities. There are more than 6,00000 daily wagers in Bihar who have had a crippling effect of lockdown. With the nationwide lockdown, all but the most necessary work has been shuttered, so daily wage laborers are without a livelihood.  The unemployment rate in rural India surged from 8.29% for the week ended 22 March to 20.29% on 29 March and 20.21% on 5 April, data by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

This unrivaled situation calls for people to rise to the occasion as a community, and provide relief to the anguish. DSDO will work as a nodal organization that is going to facilitate the existence channels by different means and support. We are working in three of the major districts of bihar ie, Patna, Katihar and Kishanganj. We have working closely with district administation in katihar to track the migrant workers health status on daily basis and provide support through government side. We provide ration to migrant workers in Kishanganj district with the support of local volunteers. We already Distributed packed food items in Patna near to DSDO office premises.
DSDO is going to ensure the above-mentioned activity. Try to extend our support to 250 daily-wage earning families and 1,250 people living in these areas. We are going to provide food and basic sanitary materials for the next 30 days.

In short: We will provide food and sanitary essentials to the poorest families in the communities we are work with.

Place- Bihar, (Patna- rajendranagar kazipur area, kishanganj- Takurganj block, Katihar- Manihari and katihar block).
Number of families: 250 (average size of 5 people/family)
Number of beneficiaries: 1,250

Selection criteria: Families whose main income is through daily wage work and whose work is stopped due to the lockdown.

Note:- In the process of Selection criteria, our local volunteers tagged those families whose main income is through daily wage work and whose work is stopped due to the lockdown.

1. Ration kit:- Basic food items (rice, wheat flour, daal, Potato, Onion, Oil, Salt) and sanitary (Masks and soaps) materials. That is based on the requirements or needs of the places.

2. Sanitary and health safety kit- 3 layered Mask and soap.

*Provided with 30 days of relief such that they do not go hungry, can keep basic sanitation, and can follow the COVID-19 guidelines (handwashing, social distancing, etc.)
