<fund raise update>

When we started the fundraise we were looking to raise much more for equipment and staff. We are thankful to Merkle Sokrati (A Dentsu International Company) for taking care of the cost of equipment by contributing ~INR 40 Lakhs and Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) for equipment worth ~INR 40 Lakhs. Hence we are now looking to raise upto 30 Lakhs to support the staff and a Pediatric ICU. Subsequently, we expect the hospital to be in self-sustained mode.

In addition to the above, Ashraya is also preparing for the possible third wave where many children could be affected. A few of the ICU beds would be converted into Pediatric ICU and suitable staff to manage Pediatric ICU are being hired.

With incessant struggles and waiting of more than 48 hours to find a ventilator bed anywhere in India, it’s been heartbreaking to see people die due to lack of infrastructure!

While it’s natural to blame the government and authorities for their unpreparedness, the need of the hour is critical care beds. Not just for this 2nd wave! According to experts, there are 3 more waves to come, and we need adequate infrastructure to deal with all of them.

A group entrepreneurs in India - Santosh Gannavarapu (CGO at Merkle Sokrati), Anubhav Sonthalia (CEO at Merkle Sokrati), Gaurav Chattur (MD at Catenon), Suruchi Wagh (Chief Product Officer at Jombay) and Mohit Gundecha (CEO at Jombay), with support from Deepa and Ashwin Rangan (CIO of ICANN) is helping Cornell-trained Pulmonologist and Critical Care Expert Dr. K T Mohan increase the critical care capacity at Ashraya Hospital in Pune. 80% of Covid-19 infections are treated at smaller private hospitals in India, but most of the government funding and CSR grants end up with large public or private hospitals.

Dr. K.T.Mohan has been working tirelessly to help patients fight against COVID 19 with the 35-bed Ashraya Hospital. We realised that we could help him crowdfund and add vital resources to the hospital and his efforts. At a time when anything and everything we do counts, we would urge you too, to contribute whatever you can to enable Ashraya Hospital to be fully Covid ready.

This is an opportunity to impact/save 35 lives every week, including some children! Please donate generously.
