I am Aditi Saksena, asking for funds to equip District Headquarters Hospital, Puri in Odisha with handwashing stations to help protect our hospital staff, patients, visitors, doctors, and nurses from infections inside the hospital.
What is the problem?
Handwashing is one of the most underrated methods of disease- prevention. It is cost-effective, high-impact and just 20 seconds long, and yet it is something we often forget, justifying it by saying- "I don't have time" or "My hands are not dirty."
But the truth of the matter is, even doctors and nurses, that are highly trained tend to not wash their hands as often as they should if they have to go out of their way to wash hands. Why should a person have to go looking for a handwashing facility, only to find it on the other end of the building, inside a probably unclean and smelly washroom- when they can wash their hands where it is the most convenient to them- right where they are.
While hospitals are one of the most cautious places for well-maintained handwashing stations, conventional planning does not accommodate the needs of nurses, patients, and visitors.
What we plan to do
HappyTap India's new normal allows us to place handwashing stations in wards, corridors, reception areas, examination rooms, and entrances without causing any infrastructural change and within a few moments. HappyTap portable handwashing stations are attractive, durable, and clean and act as a physical reminder to wash hands.
The money that would be collected here, would go into installing 25 handwashing stations in the hospital, which would be strategically placed to equip maximum visitors, especially mothers with newborn children and ICUs, with handwashing within need.
This Global Handwashing Day, let's make that change together. This fundraiser would be active starting today to the 30th of October.

Our Appeal
Handwashing is important and there is no denying it but your generous donation would be able to bring handwashing close to those who need it. We don't intend to keep you in the dark, once the donations have been received, we plan on being able to share the updates about the project with our donors, and be able to connect them with the real-life impact they made.
