An Update.
Dear friends,
Both Kapil and I have been on the ground for over this past weeks to serve the migrant workers and home town bound citizen in distress and can't thank you enough for your overwhelming help and support which made it possible!
While working on this project we also realised that a huge number of migrant workers have now safely reached their hometowns, and the need of the hour is to help those citizens and daily wagers who remain in Mumbai and are struggling to arrange their daily meals in absence of any work and hence have no income.
This is how we plan to take this campaign ahead:
1. Tie up with https://www.khaanachahiye.com/ run by Project Mumbai. They have done an excellent job so far and have a tab on the pulse of the city and it's needy citizens. We believe we will be able to reach many more of our fellow Indians through their network. We will be procuring theplas made by the cooks and women chefs in our area and personally deliver it to the Khaana Chahiye team as well as try and be present at as many locations as we can to oversee the distribution.
2. We will still be working alongside Smiley Souls Foundation, and redirecting parts of your funds towards procurement of dry ration kit and distribute to families in need.
3. We are also personally delivering both cooked food packets and dry ration kits to the needy in our area the minute we get any lead that there is someone in need.
We really appreciate the generous help extended by each and every one of you in this effort. It reaffirms our faith in humanity and gives us all a belief that goodness thrives among us, with the help of you lot.
Please get in touch with us for this with any suggestions you may have and we'll see how best we can work on them.
Lastly if you know someone who is in need of cooked food or dry ration in the city of Mumbai please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Using the knowledge and reach of these wonderful NGOs, we will try and reach out to as many of them as we can.

Hi, my name is Dhvani. Me along with my husband Kapil, are trying to help the migrant workers in Mumbai, who are leaving for their hometowns during this lock down. We are providing them home cooked food, water and bananas.
We live in Borivali area of Mumbai, which is a major transit point from where the state transport buses and trains are leaving with the migrant workers and their families all across India.
We have teamed up with the Smiley Souls Foundation, based here in Borivali to reach the right destinations where the workers and their families are asked to assemble.
Migrant workers in Mumbai have been struggling to survive ever since the lock down began in late March. They are anxiously waiting to get back home.
Some of them are waiting their turn for a few days, as the buses are limited... the seats in each bus are limited. Some are not able to find their way to the registration offices... and it gets tough especially after giving up their current homes in Mumbai and are moving around with their luggage and small kids.
We are personally ensuring that the food packets we supply gets delivered in their hands or is kept in their transit buses.
Why are we doing this? There's a lot of terrible and disturbing news that is increasing each day. And without any real work to do (due to the lockdown), we really thought its best to channelize our efforts and minds into serving others and do the best we can in this time of crisis. We have personally contributed from our personal fund initially. But quickly realised that the demand is unending and the supply limited.
To give you an idea, the cost of 10 packets of food is Rs 500. And with the total amount raised we would like to be able to supply 20,000 packets of food, water and bananas over the next one month.
