I’ve always had a dream to do my MBA from a prestigious business school. I was trying hard for quite a few years, but found it difficult to study and crack the entrance exams mainly because of the extremely long hours that I used to do at work. I had a nice job, but I would generally end up working 14 to 16 hours each day and used to be in office on several weekends and almost all public holidays. It took a huge toll on my health as well and I ended up with slip discs in my back, vitamin d levels of 6.5 ng/ml, an acute case of bronchitis, among other health issues. Eventually I decided to leave my job and focus on my health and MBA.

My health is better now and I also got into a really good business school (IE Business School in Madrid), but I've been unemployed for almost a year now. I had planned to re-join work this year but then the Covid19 pandemic happened and with it most job markets have been frozen. Also, I have opted for the Jan 2021 intake rather than the September 2020 intake hoping  that my MBA is not impacted much by Covid19, while it also gives me more time to raise funds and hopefully even learn Spanish. However, there's been a lot of time lost and in spite of all my efforts, I may not have a job till then and there has been a lot of stress on my finances as all my savings are getting depleted. Besides, it wouldn't be good to join a job for a short while and then resign again. Considering I am not getting any younger, delaying the MBA further may not be a good idea and there’s no guarantee that I could get anything half as good in the future. I do have an option to convert this MBA into a dual degree and get an additional master’s degree from either Yale, MIT Sloan, Fletcher or Brown universities in the US, but for now, I’m trying to focus only on the MBA from IE.

I also want to point out that I grew up in orphanages across India, namely Maher, in Pune and the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's Homes) branches, and my finances have always been tough. Banks are unwilling to lend me money because I do not have assets to provide as collateral or a co-signer who, as per the requirements, must be blood related and must have a significant income or assets to serve as collateral. I have approached quite a few NBFC's as well but there's been no luck so far. I do have my mother to support me, but her means are extremely limited and she already has a lot of debt riding on her. You might wonder how I grew up in orphanages in spite of having my mother around, and that’s a story I could probably share separately.

The tuition fees for the International MBA at IE, is 72,200 Euros (including a 1,200 euro foundation fees) and I had initially received a 15% scholarship. I had subsequently applied for a re-evaluation of my scholarships and provided them with more data, and upon review, my scholarship was increased from 15% to 25%. I was able to borrow money from some of my friends to pay the initial 9,200 euros (8000 euros of place reservation fee plus an additional 1200 Euros to the IE foundation) that I needed to pay by July 6th to block my seat and now I am left with 45,250 euros in fees due. Borrowing through friends is becoming very challenging considering the Covid situation, especially for the large amount that I need, and I’ve been advised that maybe people will be able to donate in parts if not provide loans of larger amounts so this is my attempt to trying every possible option. I am only trying to raise money to cover my remaining tuition fees and if I’m able to reduce this amount considerably, then I should be able to cover my living expenses and other expenses through my savings and with a smaller loan which I should be able to get. Also, as you may know, I generally don’t discuss my personal life so I’m trying to raise money only from the people that I’m comfortable with and I hope you understand and things stay this way.

I had managed to do reasonably well for myself considering my background, but my profile lacked diversity as my career was built around one job role, i.e, financial reporting. I have spent hours every day trying to apply to various jobs and reaching out to people but the lack of work experiences outside financial reporting and the lack of a higher degree have been hurting me really hard so far and the Covid situation isn’t helping either. This MBA can open inroads to jobs that I would otherwise never have access to and help me achieve my dreams. I hope to join the 'pre-trade' domain of investment banking, equity research, etc. after the MBA and make a transition from the current 'post trade' domain that I am in currently. If not, I can always come back and continue to grow in the same profile as I liked doing what I did inspite of the long hours.

My eventual goal is to get into politics. You may have seen me working with several politicians along with my job previously and I have also been a part of political internships. Most people who want to reach out and help the society either do so via NGO's or their own limited means, but having seen first hand the helplessness of such people beyond a point, including the ones who run these organisations, I believe the right person in politics, who understands their issues, could really be the perfect bridge. From my limited experiences in politics, I have learnt that you cannot rely on politics for your bread and butter and must have something to fall back if it does not work and which is why I plan to grow in the corporate world and get some stability before I transition to politics. I also hope that such transition would eventually be easier as people do tend to look up to those with success stories and with selfless minds.

I understand these are tough times for everyone but any help from your end could make a huge difference to me. Right now, I am in a situation where I have nowhere else to go and this MBA can either make or break my career and my life. I’ve tried a lot of other options and now I’m hoping this works for me. If you're in a position to give a larger amount, and you'd prefer to do it over a loan, then please feel free to reach out to me separately on +91-9901290371. The last couple of years have been extremely stressful but I want to be able to get through this and finally be the person I’ve always wanted to be and also be in a position to pay it forward and help others. For now, I can return the favour through assistance in applications to colleges or any other means that I can. I can make this dream happen and succeed with your help! I have attached details of the admissions, fees, and some of my other conversations below for your reference and I can provide any further details if required.
