    This fundraiser will benefit

    Darjeeling Initiative

    from Darjeeling, West Bengal

The Darjeeling Initiative and Edwards Foundation have been keeping track of hospital beds in our region and we are anticipating that it will be difficult to get beds for Covid patients in the days to come and also because most families in the Hills cannot afford medical treatment in Siliguri due to high hospital, housing, travel expenses. Therefore we feel the best way to help is to provide support at source.

So far, we have already procured 10 Oxygen Concentrators (at INR 78k with GST per unit) but to serve the people of the Hills that includes Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik, we will require at least 50 more Oxygen Concentrators in order to ensure that the Hills will not face a health catastrophe similar to the unfortunate circumstances around the rest of India, due to shortage of Oxygen supply.

Therefore keeping that in mind, the items required immediately are:

**Please also refer to the photos to check the authenticity and background of our Oxygen supplier.

We are ALSO fundraising for the following:

  1. We have converted the restaurant on the top floor of Glenarys into an isolation centre with basic oxygen supply facility, food and medicine for patients recovering from Covid 19. The 200-seater restaurant will start as a 20-bed Isolation Centre. The bed capacity will be increased depending on the need.
  2. Doorstep medical supply/oxygen deliveries to critical patients both in the town and remote areas, wherever possible.
  3. Resource and medical support to our ’already stretched’ local hospitals, isolation centres and other local health infrastructure.
For this to be successful, we welcome and encourage friends, family and citizens to come forward with your contribution so that we can help save lives.

As always, let us do this TOGETHER!
