Dear Friends and Family,

We are raising funds to help daily workers in Mumbai who are unable to earn their daily wages due to the repercussions of COVID-19.

India is currently in Stage-2 of Corona Virus crisis and may soon enter Stage-3. Due to Coronavirus, people are at home and prefer doing chores themselves. The people most affected by it will be those in India’s unorganized sector & slums i.e. daily wagers, maids, house helpers, cleaners, drivers, construction site workers, plumbers, electricians, delivery boys, etc., and their financial wellbeing will be directly impacted by their inability to earn their daily wage.

Focus Area.
This emergency support focus area is Mumbai city and urban Maharashtra. Focusing the slum area of Mumbai’s region and other location too where most of the families depend on daily casual labor.

Target Beneficiaries
We have targeted to support 1000 daily wagers families who are highly depend on the daily work. These are typically daily wagers, maids, house helps, construction site workers, plumbers, electricians, workers in small units, Taxi driver, Delivery boys, etc.

Specific Objective
1. To stop the spread of this deadly virus among most vulnerable communities.
2. Create an awareness about how to take precaution and safety measures.
3. To provide protection against the virus and a safety net for the economic toll.
4. To reach out the daily wagers and support them to maintain their immune system by providing the food and hygiene kit.

Need Assessment and problem.
A large number of daily wage earner do not have the backing of a steady monthly income or the flexibility of working from home like a lot of us have today.

They also do not have enough savings to stock up on food and other essentials for their family, young ones included. As responsible citizens of our country with the means to help, we need to unite together and help feed everyone and ensure nobody sleeps hungry.

Immediate Requirement

1. Food Kit.
The large amount of hourly/daily wage workers do not have the backing of any sort of insurance, and as we all know they are among the most vulnerable to the negative financial effects of the pandemic. With no way to cover expenses, workers like these will inevitably struggle to earn money for food and medical support.

For these two important reasons it’s important to look at them. The blessed class of people who the almighty has granted his graces and make a concrete initiative to help them get ahead of the crisis by starting to provide necessary support to individuals like these.
We have made standardized food supply kits for a family of 4 for one month. Each kit contains a combination of food grains and pulses - Wheat Flour, Rice, Pulses and Oil etc.

The approximately cost for the Food Kit (Grocery) is INR 1200.00. This Grocery kit is for 1 family of 3 or 4 member for the period of 1 month.

2. Hygiene Kit
The outbreak of COVID19 (coronavirus) has caused a global health emergency. World Health Organization recommends that we regularly and thoroughly clean our hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. This hygiene consisting of Liquid Hand Wash, Floor Disinfectant, Bathing Soap, Protective Mask, Pack of Hander kerchief, Clothes Washing Detergent, Utensil Bar Soap etc.

The approximately cost for the Hygiene Kit (Grocery) is INR 700.00

In this crucial situation Bright Star Charitable Trust taken an initiative to reach out to the 1000 such daily wagers family and support them by providing the daily need groceries and hygiene kit which help them to maintain their immune system and keep safe against this virus.
