India has been witnessing a massive surge in coronavirus cases for the past month. The second wave of the pandemic has definitely hit us harder and this is a distressing period for us all. More than ever, it's paramount now, that we home hope within us, a hope stronger than the loss and fear we are experiencing.
With this in mind, I am organising an online event (on the 30th of May, 6pm onwards) that brings together poetry, music and performance to raise funds that will then be directed towards various organisations working towards Covid relief.
About the organisation we will be contributing to:
1) Hemkunt Foundation
Hemkunt Foundation is a non-government organisation that aims to provide humanitarian aid to marginalised sections of society.
The foundation works towards supplying oxygen cylinders to Covid patients for free.
2) Queer Support Group, Lucknow
The Queer Support Group is a collective based in Lucknow, established to provide a safe space to all queer identities.
They are currently raising funds to support trans members and other members of the queer community (daily wage labourers) who are in financial trouble due to the second surge of COVID-19 and the following lockdown.
3) Childline India Foundation
Childline India foundation is a non-government organisation that operates a a 24-hour, toll free, telephone helpline called Childline, for children in distress.
They has been working to distribute hygiene kits, food and medical supplies, and extend emergency relief and rescue for children and families affected by the crisis.
