Story

What was to be a summer filled with mangoes and lazy days turned out to be traumatic for many of our children with epilepsy. With lockdown measures in place, parents are unable to access epileptic medication for their children from government hospitals. They have heavily borrowed money to pay for their children’s medications.

Can you please help them for three months, till the situation stabilizes? The medicines are NECESSARY for the children to avoid epileptic seizures.

It costs about Rs. 1000 a month per child. We have 87 children Below the Poverty Line in our centres who require these medications. For three months, we will require Rs. 2,61,000.

Our Background:

Satya Special School is for children with special needs. We work in Puducherry and neighbouring villages. We started work in 2003, and now have 951 children under our care, through our various projects.

Very often, kids with developmental disabilities also have epilepsy. This means that they will need to take the anti-epilepsy medication every day, or they will likely get seizures. In many cases, they cannot even communicate whether they had the medication or not.

These medications are expensive, and most of the kids do not have this covered under any insurance scheme. The expenses average around Rs. 1,000 a month for these medicines.

Of the children from BPL families in our care, 87 are epileptic and need to take this daily medication.
Please come forward to save these children’s lives. Thank you!
