My name is Pravin, and I teach 96 students at an under-resourced government school in Pune, Maharashtra, along with my co-teacher Chitrang Kureel.

Our students come from low-income backgrounds, and their troubles grew manifold as a result of the pandemic. Due to issues like parent unemployment, violence in the community, insufficient financial support and an overall lack of fulfillment of basic needs, the educational needs of these children have taken a back seat. 

As much as we envision to provide these children with the best resources, it is not possible without all the help we could get. The recovery from the Covid-19 aftermath is a slow and laborsome process and most families unfortunately have to put necessities like food, shelter, and clothes at a higher priority than education. The long-term effects of these challenges can lead to our students dropping out of school and never finding their way back ro education. 

Thus, I reach out to you with a request-

To help our children cover their basic needs of books, clothes, and food, and enabling their presence in school despite the circumstances. The amount that you donate will be used to purchase and procure classroom resources. Please find below a detailed description of the amount breakdown:

Requirement: ₹50,000 

Expenditure-

1. Funding for 50 most struggling students - ₹1000 is allocated to each student for their year-long classroom expenses. 

2. Notebooks and registers - 6 per student (1 per theoretical subject) 

3. Books - English storybooks, Mini-Library consisting of books with different reading levels, number system books, and preparation books as students start preparing for college. 

4. Clasroom Supplies - bridge courses for students at low learning levels, exam papers, stationery, art and craft essentials, learning packets etc. 

A little help shall go a long way as we see our children emerge as new leaders of our country. If you choose to contribute, you will play an immense role in enabling this. A heartfelt gratitude on behalf of my class team and our children for taking this step and making education accessible.
