“We want her to study hard and pursue higher education. But with my meagre income as a rickshaw driver, I struggle to provide even one meal a day for my family of five. How could I afford Nida's further studies? I have two more children to care for, and the fees increase with each grade,” says Nida’s father, the helplessness evident in his eyes. 9-year-old Nida is a curious and bright girl, who loves mathematics, enjoys attending school and aspires to be a police officer. But the excuse for an education she receives at the local government school, text books that arrive too late to prepare for examinations and unaffordable tuition classes would have collectively led to Nida prematurely dropping out of school. “Srijan’s Mohalla Classes came as a ray of hope to Nida and our family. She now envisions her end goal and is working hard to pursue it. We are very proud of her. If it wasn't for Srijan, our Nida would be washing utensils in someone's house”, says Nida’s mother.

Srijan’s Mohalla Smart Classes coach students with audio-visual teaching aids that make complex STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects interactive. Following a well-defined outcome-based curriculum, teachers work on basic concepts and strengthen the understanding of the subjects for students.

Srijan empowers underprivileged children to utilise their full potential

“Srijan is committed to providing quality education to underprivileged children living in remote villages and small towns across India where access to quality higher education is still a far cry. Through various programmes, Srijan has supported 6000+ beneficiaries, with the focus on strengthening current programmes in the year ahead. We now aim to build a technology-based curriculum and provide students with a digitally enhanced learning environment. Learning will be supported by teaching aids like the abacus, lego and AI experience. We aim to provide an immersive learning experience to our students by including Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) elements. This holistic growth of a student will enable them to grow into better citizens and further enrich society,” explains Prabhat Saxena, Founder of Srijan Ek Soch.

Help Srijan educate young aspirants and empower communities in remote villages

Having hailed from the remote town of Rath, in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and studying in a government school, Prabhat did not have the privilege of coaching classes and career guidance. Against all odds, with help from senior schoolmates, he got into IIT. “Given my poor English speaking skills, shabby dressing sense and overall awkward demeanour, I was soon labelled ‘gaon wala’ (villager) on campus. For the next few years, I was belittled on multiple occasions and often felt like a tiny fish in an ocean full of sharks,” recalls Prabhat. “Nevertheless, I graduated with flying colours and landed a job in the Gulf. I then started getting education and career related queries from many young aspirants in my village. Determined to support them with much-needed career guidance and job skills, I set up Srijan - which means ‘creation’, to create a guided pathway for the youth and aspiring students in Rath, my hometown. Srijan not only helps students attain higher education, but also guides them and their families to become financially self-reliant. With your generous support, we can educate more youth, empower their communities and enrich society,” smiles a resolute Prabhat.

“Girls' education is the last priority for parents in remote village communities, but girls like Nida are a source of inspiration to many. We can create many more Nidas by providing the required support, mentoring and guidance to build STEM capability. Every girl, even in the smallest town, should have the right to be educated and dream as big as possible when the world is being led by women, from sports to politics. Srijan is in dire need of funds to strengthen our current programs and provide better facilities for education, with clean and attractive classrooms in a conducive learning environment that attracts and motivates children to attend sessions. Please help us encourage, educate and empower more young kids in remote village communities. We need your support,” appeals Prabhat.
