Matai Society, with a track record of supporting over 3000 IDPs, 1000 children displaced by conflict, numerous LGBTQIA persons and women affected by armed conflict is seeking public support to continue its relief work, livelihood initiatives, psycho-social support, suicide prevention work and LGBTQIA community building works in valley districts of Manipur with focus on Bishnupur district. These works have been also made possible by generous donations from well wishers, activists, philanthropists, artsist in the past. And we are once again seeking your support to help us continue our work.
Matai Society is a registered society under the 1989 Societies Registration Act, with legal compliances such as 80 G, 12 A. We are also the only women, trans and queer led organisation in the district that have been consistently supporting relief camps, LGBTQIA persons in crisis and children and women caught in armed conflict.
As we gear to plan our activities for the financial year 2025-26, there is a huge resource crunch because of our independent activism approach without any tie up with the government, lack of a long term funding from any donor, increasing beneficiary list (crossing 5000 persons this year), funding crunch globally due to USAID funds freeze and unsupportive local factors in Manipur.
We like to raise 2.5 lakh to support some of the key activities as listed below:
1. Livelihood initiatives in different relief camps
2. Emergency crisis support for IDP, children, women and LGBTQIA folks.
3. Psycho-social support and suicide prevention initiatives.
4. LGBTQIA community building activities.
