Skill-Ed stories are storybooks designed to equip children, their parents, and teachers with life skills.
Goal:
We aim to impact 3000 children by August 2022. Each child will have access to 4 storybooks that equips them with life skills.
Each book costs Rs.150 (Making+printing+shipping costs)
So far:
494 students from underprivileged communities, i.e, 11 classrooms in 8 Govt.Schools across Pune, Mumbai, Delhi & Hyderabad have now access to Storybooks integrated with life skills, supporting books for teachers to teach effectively, assessments & fun activities.
Why:
Storybooks promote the development of children in extensive ways from supporting the elevation of their cognitive skills to expanding their ability to picture the world uniquely. Children need to question why the world is, the way it is! Stories encourage them to move out from a confined environment, stimulate empathy and an acceptance of themselves as well as help them relate the fantastical world to real-life and much more.
What does it do?
Looking at these many impacts, we decided to make storybooks accessible to young kids for creating a fun and enchanting reading experience for them. but hold on, there's something more we offer! Our illustrative storybooks seek to equip children with essential skills in a simple way. "Problem-solving", being the foundation of determining actions to fix the smallest issues to inevitable ones, these books guide the kids to learn to read and then read to learn. Additionally, they consist of an activity to the end to implement what the child has learned while reading and a short assessment to examine his/her knowledge and understanding.
What’s in it for teachers & classrooms?
Every Skill-ed storybook comes with a Teacher Book, to support teachers and classrooms with activities & strategies to engage their students before, during, and after the storytelling sessions that they conduct. These books are designed for teachers to ignite the curiosity in children in classrooms, to build on the skills, along with continuous practice and fun!
