Story

Parikrma Humanity Foundation began operations 18 years ago, in 2003. They run 4 K-10 schools and 1 Junior College where children come from over 80 slums and 5 orphanages in Bengaluru. Parikrma, in Sanskrit, stands for “the Circle of Life”. A Parikrma child is taken care of for 360°- they don’t just receive free education using CBSE English medium learning modules, they are also provided nutrition, health coverage, and family care.
Parikrma’s mission is to unleash the potential of underprivileged children, enabling them to live their lives on equal terms and become valuable contributing members of society.

Parikrma Humanity Foundation introduction video

With the Covid crisis going on in India, Parikrma has adopted online teaching as a norm. With its Reach-V initiative, teachers of Parikrma are trying to reach the beneficiaries, ie, the students through digital devices. Parikrma has been trying to raise funds for students to gain access to digital devices- mobile phones, tabs, etc. But in the process, teachers and educators should not be forgotten as well. Parikrma is trying its best to make teaching easy for our teachers.

Online teaching and difficulties

Teaching Mathematics and Science without a blackboard is very difficult because. In both these subjects, we use different symbols, formulas, and calculations. Our teachers can use a text editor or virtual blackboard but it is very difficult to write using a mouse or laptop mouse pad; it takes a lot of time and can't write neatly. Using Graphic Tablet our teachers can write on the board in a way that students will understand the concept clearly. Our teachers are learning to use technology for the maximum benefit of their students, and this graphic tablet will help them reach out to their students more efficiently and clearly.

Who are the beneficiaries?

Poor children in urban areas have most often slipped through the cracks of the education system. With the need for digitalized education system due to the coronavirus pandemic, the gap between the privileged and the poor has only increased. Parikrma Humanity Foundation is trying to give access to digital education to around 15000 of the urban poor children in Bengaluru and run their Reach-V initiative through online classes. But the children and most of the teachers cannot afford digital devices on their own to facilitate the same. Parikrma Humanity Foundation has been actively raising funds and even working condition second-hand phones to run their four schools and junior college.

Help the children not slip out through the cracks of this huge digital divide and help them have a chance at a better future.
