My name is Aditya Yadav, and I come from a small village in rural India. Against all odds, I have been selected for the prestigious Summer Science Program (SSP) in Astrophysics, one of the world’s most competitive high school research programs, affiliated with MIT, Caltech, and Harvey Mudd College. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on real-world astrophysics research, tracking and determining the orbits of near-Earth asteroids.
I have received the full aid for SSP which include tution, accommodation, meal and additional costs including travel. I need your support to secure visa in time and my family primary source of earning is agriculture making it hard for us to have the money at this instant.
Despite receiving a full scholarship covering tuition, travel, and living expenses, there is still one major obstacle standing in my way—the cost of securing a U.S. visa and the skyrocketing wait times for visa appointments in India.
My Journey: From a Small Village to Global Science
Growing up in a low-income family, I never had access to expensive coaching or elite resources, but that never stopped me from chasing my dreams in STEM and research. I have worked hard, not only excelling in my studies but also conducting AI research, leading scientific outreach programs in my village, and even writing a book on quantum physics.
Getting into SSP is a dream come true, but now I am facing the toughest challenge yet—finding the funds to secure my visa and ensure I don’t lose this golden opportunity.
Why I Need Your Help
I have received the full aid for SSP which include tution, accommodation, meal and additional costs including travel. I need your support to secure visa in time and my family primary source of earning is agriculture making it hard for us to have the money at this instant.
The U.S. visa application fee alone is ₹16,095 ($185 USD), which my family managed by using my mother’s jewelry as collateral.
Due to the high demand for U.S. visa appointments in India, I need to secure an early slot, which may require additional financial help (as many slots get booked instantly, often by agents).
Our annual family income is only ₹85 thousand (~$1000 USD) from small-scale dairy and farming work, making even small unexpected expenses a huge burden.
