My name is Rajkumar Jambhulkar. I have done my Master's in Social Work from TISS and am currently working in an NGO in Mumbai. I come from Gondia district of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra. My mother, Mrs Chhaya Jambhulkar, 54 years old, is the backbone of our family. She has always taught us to give back to the community. But at this moment, we require the support of the community as she is fighting a life-threatening battle. So, I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support to raise 21.57 lakhs to save my mother’s life.
In June 2017, my mother suffered a paralysis attack. Since then, she was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Four years ago, her kidneys got infected with multiple cysts and are no longer functioning properly. Currently, she is heavily dependent on regular dialysis for daily functioning. Doctors have advised urgent removal of both the kidneys and kidney transplant as her condition is extremely critical.
The following medical procedure has to be urgently executed: Both her kidneys will be removed (Nephrectomy). After her body stabilizes, a kidney transplant will be conducted. Her husband (my father) has been identified as the organ donor. The total estimated cost for the complete treatment including dialysis, staged surgeries, transplant, medicines, and recovery is ₹21,57,000.
My mother actively contributed to the family by doing daily wage work to make ends meet. Her medical conditions have rendered her unemployable for the last 6 years. My father, a daily wage worker, being the sole caregiver, could not resume his work post covid pandemic. I have been working in the NGO sector for the past 3 years. However due to the ongoing treatment for the last several years, all our savings have been exhausted. Family and friends have offered their support financially. However, their social-economic circumstances have limited their ability to fully contribute. With no other options available, we are reaching out to the community for support in this difficult time.
