Hi Everyone,
As you are aware of the COVID-19 national lock down situation, many parts of Vizag city have been locked down with restricted entries to places. A lot of people are stranded in many places with limited or no access to groceries, food, vegetables, sanitary products which are basic needs to stay safe.
As you are aware of the COVID-19 national lock down situation, many parts of Vizag city have been locked down with restricted entries to places. A lot of people are stranded in many places with limited or no access to groceries, food, vegetables, sanitary products which are basic needs to stay safe.
Myself Chandra a resident of Vizag since childhood and currently working as a corporate professional. Personally, I have seen how people are suffering a lot without basic needs as there are many daily wage workers, poor people on streets who do not have a home to live and are dangerously exposed to this virus with no one to care for them.
To help such needy people, I decided to volunteer in this time of need and reached out to Loyala Foundation and LAASA foundation to identify needy (old age homes, orphanages etc) and distribute food, water, buttermilk packets for 120 people daily. With the help of my friends/colleagues we could pool some funds to start this work. I am happy to share that I currently have 4 volunteers who are helping tremendously on daily basis for the past few weeks. We are taking adequate precautions (PPEs, gloves etc) for doing the same.
We are now coordinating cooking meals at a safe and secure kitchen so we can provide proper food to those hungry on the streets. Every day our volunteers are going around Railway station road, DRM office road, RTC complex, Kancharapalem, Marripalem railway station road, NAD Kota road and Gopalapatnam station areas looking for people in need and providing them food and basic needs. I also got permissions as needed for distribution of essentials, so our volunteers don’t face any problems with police when they are out helping others.
We are trying to help as many people in Vizag as possible in this difficult time and unfortunately are limited by time and funds currently. My sincere and humble request to you is to please come forward to help them. Please pass on this message to your family, friends, colleagues who can help. Any contribution is going to help some person in need. If you have any questions regarding how we are helping or anything else, please feel free to contact my number and I will be happy to talk.
