The Chowk Bazar Tragedy
What remains of the economic hub, the business core of Tezpur town is now turned into ashes. The Chowk Bazaar, a heritage structure that housed more than 300 shops was the only source of income for at least 1500 families, succumbed to a fire that occurred on the night of 9th May,2021. The Chowk Bazaar, once beaming with people and activity has just vanished overnight.
Tezpur Buzz is a digital media channel based in Tezpur, Assam that aims to cater to the city's exclusive needs. In its three years of existence, Tezpur Buzz has strived to provide its citizens with exciting collections of well researched and creative stories, daily updates, opinions, along with News, Music, Entertainment, Foods, Sports, Fashion and Lifestyle, Society, Reviews, Travel etc.
NGO Pravodhana was established in 2014 in Tezpur by a group of social workers comprising doctors, lawyers, conservationists and business men with the motto to Engage, Observe and Discover. The NGO works in the fields of skill development, renewable energy, health, women empowerment and Education for Sustainable Development. One of its primary focus areas is to support and enable the women of the northeast to conserve their rich heritage of weaving. Pravodhana supports women weavers in rural and remote areas by providing them with yarn and besides paying them wages, extends a share of the profits made by the sale of the commissioned products. Pravodhana’s baby steps is leading to its engaging with a variety of marginalized people, while observing their strengths and challenges it seeks to discover a new model of development where equity reigns supreme .

We, team Tezpur Buzz and NGO Pravodhana have pledged to get together in these tough times of a pandemic to do our best to help these lives that have lost so much. We are sincerely reaching out to each one of you to lend a helping hand. Our heart goes out to Tezpur and all those families who have been affected by this disaster.
This is the time for all to team up and save the affected from the tough times. When hardly the business community was trying to cope up with the loses suffered due to the pandemic, this havoc left them with nothing but only despair. We are raising funds to support the affected families in monetary terms so that they can cater to their needs. Every drop makes an ocean. Please help us out.
