Bishanpur Panchayat is a cluster of 5 small villages in Dumra Block of Sitamarhi district in Bihar. The population of this panchayat is around 25,000. Even after 75 years of independence, this panchayat is hugely underdeveloped and deprived of basic amenities like roads, sanitation, primary healthcare , human rights and education. Ever since my retirement from the post of a gazetted officer in Indian Railways ECR Hajipur, I wanted to move to my village and work towards its upliftment. I along with my son Abhishek srivastava alias Rishu Prasad have been trying to do things like generating employment through small scale industries like livestock, fisheries, skill development etc. in our own humble capacity. Last year when COVID-19 rocked the world, these small businesses and all our initiatives got badly hit. Due to increase in migration of laborers back home in the last one year, there was a sudden rise in employment and we have somehow managed to sustain and also help the villagers through these tough times. We are working with local authorities to provide primary education, roads, streetlights, proper sanitation, and healthcare for over a year now.
My son Rishu who is an MBA & a prominent media personel has been working round the clock and leaving no stone unturned to revive the businesses and help the villagers in every possible way. Right from helping them during the floods in July to making sure the government initiatives and benefits reach the grassroots, we are doing our bit. But apart from sweat and will we also need funds to keep this good work going. We request all you fellow Indians in India and also the ones living outside of the country to generously come forward and donate and set an example for others to follow. Help us realize this dream of a sustanable independent village where every villager has right to live with dignity.
